Andrea on this house
There are houses, and then there are houses you walk through and immediately know are different. This one belongs in the second list.
The architect started not from the plot but from the view: a single sweep, sunrise over the bay, the coast opening to the south. The whole structure follows the rock — three levels, several terraces, all of them looking outward.
The owners built this as their own retreat and have lived in it lightly, mostly in summer, mostly as a family. It is in remarkable condition.
The materials are honest — local stone for the walls, oiled walnut throughout, sand-coloured travertine in the bathrooms. Heating and cooling are geothermal. The infinity pool is salt water.
The village is a few minutes' walk. The closest restaurant — small, family-run, unassuming — is a hundred metres up the road.
I have visited this property several times, in different seasons. I would recommend a viewing in the morning.
